Kris Boyd has launched a scathing attacking on Rangers mainstay Ryan Jack by claiming he has had more sendings-off than good matches this season.

Ex-Ibrox striker delivered his verdict on the central midfielder as he questioned the decision of interim Scotland manager Malky Mackay to call up eight uncapped players for the friendly against Holland.

Boyd hit out at the decision to include Jack who has been sent off three times this season, although two of these were later rescinded.

He told BBC Sportsound, as quoted by the BBC Sport website: “It’s a total laughing stock for Scottish football. I’ve also read Ryan Jack is going to start at right back.

“He’s had more red cards than good games for Rangers this season. Why does he even deserve to be there?”

OPINION:

Boyd is a slam-dunk kind of pundit who says it as he sees it. His assessment of Jack is slightly harsh, as the 25-year-old has done what Rangers have asked of him since signing from Aberdeen in the summer. Certainly, he is not flash and is a neat distributor rather than a brilliant one, but Jack can be reasonably satisfied with how his first 15 matches for the Glasgow giants have gone. Moreover, this is a meaningless friendly. It is an ideal time to experiment and try out new players with one eye on the future.
