TalkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham took to Twitter to aim a thinly veiled dig at Celtic after they extended their domestic unbeaten run courtesy of a late penalty against Motherwell on Wednesday night.

The Bhoys were on the verge of defeat at Fir Park but were awarded a spot-kick with two minute of normal time remaining.

Scott Sinclair buried the penalty to earn a 1-1 draw for Brendan Rodgers’ side and extend their sequence to 66 unbeaten domestic matches.

It was the second time in days that Motherwell have conceded a spot-kick to the Hoops, with Sinclair controversially going down in the box after minimal contact in Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final to result in a penalty that was converted by Moussa Dembele to secure a 2-0 win.

Outspoken TalkSPORT host Durham took at swipe at Celtic after the game as he predicted another penalty for them when they host Motherwell in the league on Saturday, the third consecutive match in which the two clubs go head to head.

“Spoiler alert! Celtic have already been awarded a penalty in this Saturday’s game against Motherwell,” he said on his personal TalkSport Drive Twitter account.

OPINION

Referee Willie Collum incensed the home players by pointing to the spot when Callum McGregor buckled under a mild Andy Rose challenge on the edge of the box. Rightly so. It was an appalling decision and once again brought into question the standard of refereeing in Scottish football. Credit to Sinclair for keeping his composure to put the penalty away, but it should never have been given and devalued the remarkable run of the Scottish champions.
