Liverpool extended their unbeaten Premier League run with a 3-0 win at Stoke City on Wednesday night – but fans took to Twitter to lay into Emre Can.

The midfielder was one of six changes to the team that drew 1-1 against Chelsea as manager Jurgen Klopp rotated his squad during an intensive run of matches.

Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, Ragnar Klavan and James Milner were omitted, with Can, Dominic Solanke, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Georginio Wijnaldum and Dejan Lovren returning to the team.

A first-half goal from Mane gave Liverpool an early advantage and substitute Salah then extended his stunning scoring sequence with two late goals.

The summer signing tops the Premier League scoring charts with 12 goals this season and has now netted a remarkable 17 times from 21 matches in all competitions.

But it was not all sweetness and light as far as the Anfield faithful were concerned, with many expressing their dissatisfaction at the performance of Can and what they felt was his tendency to hang on to the ball for too long.
