Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is available again for selection after recovering from illness, it was confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account.

Spurs have revealed that the 21-year-old is now ready to return to the side ahead of the Premier League clash away to Watford on Saturday.

The central midfielder has established himself as a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and the pass master will be a welcomed return.

Winks was absent in midweek and watched on as his team suffered a 2-1 away defeat against Leicester, with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez on the scoresheet.

The England international has broken into the Spurs XI this term and has made 16 appearances across all competitions.

He has benefited on Victor Wanyama’s absence through injury this campaign and really stepped up in the middle of the park.

Winks has shown he can keep a good control on a match with his wide range of passing and he was a notable omission against Leicester.

OPINION

Spurs certainly have looked a better team when Winks has been involved this season and it’s remarkable to see how quickly he has become a crucial player in the first team. The youngster developed from the club’s academy and is the latest rising star to be nurtured by brilliant man-manager Pochettino. His return couldn’t be more timely as they face a crucial match against a very strong Watford team and Spurs need their best XI on the pitch. The north London club have slipped down to seventh in the league table after a poor run of form and have even been overtaken by high flying Burnley. Spurs need to quickly get back to winning ways to remain in the top four race and Winks could be a catalyst at the weekend.
