Martin Keown has stated he can’t think of three teams worse than West Ham in the Premier League as the possibility of relegation looms over them.

The Hammers suffered a crushing 4-0 away defeat to Everton on Wednesday night and it meant they remained in the relegation zone.

David Moyes has now picked up just one point from his opening three games in charge at the London Stadium and it’s does not get any easier for his side.

They face Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next three league fixtures as they look to climb out of the drop zone.

West Ham have just 10 points from their opening 14 matches in the top flight and are in real danger of Championship football despite a busy summer of spending.

Keown has delivered a brutal assessment of the club’s relegation chances and is struggling to see how Moyes can save them.

“I think if you’re a West Ham player and start looking at the table you think are there a worst team than us that could fall into the bottom three and I’m not sure there is based on the evidence we’ve seen at the moment,” Keown told BT Sport’s coverage of Everton v West Ham.

“Has David Moyes improved things? No. Well these players stay with him long enough. He has been in this situation last season {with Sunderland} and he was relegated.”

OPINION

West Ham are in dire straits at the minute and the defeat to Everton will have almost all of their fanbase seriously concerned with the threat of relegation. The Hammers could be stranded at the bottom of the table in a few games time and being in the bottom three around Christmas historically is not usually a good sign. Moyes certainly need Javier Hernandez firing all cylinders when he returns from injury as their was very little attacking threat as they were rolled over at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, the defensive issue is worrying right now and it looks like West Ham may need to invest in some reinforcements in January to save them.
