Steve McManaman has revealed he would sign Paris Saint-Germain’s wonderkid Kylian Mbappe if he was in charge of Real Madrid over Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The BT pundit previously played for Madrid during his playing career and has explained that PSG forward Mbappe would be his dream signing for the Spanish giants.

The Mirror have reported that the La Liga side are eyeing a £150million swoop for Kane next summer, but McManaman has suggested a better alternative in his eyes.

“No [I wouldn’t sign Kane],” McManaman told Spanish publication Marca. “I would prefer to sign a young boy like Mbappe.

“It would be very difficult to sign Kane, the price of footballers today is crazy, you would need 200 million euros.”

Mbappe is a rising star in European football and burst on to the scene with Monaco last season before joining PSG in the summer.

The 18-year-old France international has blistering pace and is already a clinical finisher.
He has made 13 appearances so far this season, scoring four goals and supplying five assists in return.

Meanwhile, Spurs forward Kane has become a talisman for club and country, which has seen him linked with a big money move.

The 24-year-old has score 13 goals in just 12 games this season and his stock continues to rise.

OPINION

Both Kane and Mbappe are two of the most high profile strikers in the game right now who are key players for their side. The England international is clearly further along his development right now and has become the most feared attacker in the Premier Leauge. Mbappe is showing maturity well beyond the years of an 18-year-old and he has the potential to go to the very top over the next few years. As a long-term investment snapping up the PSG rising star would probably be the smartest move, but right now there is no one in such clinical mood in front of goal as Kane.
