Arsenal are keen on signing RB Leipzig goalkeeper Gulacsi as a potential long-term replacement for Petr Cech, according to ESPN FC.

The football site claim the Gunners and Chelsea are keeping close tabs on the 27-year-old, who spent five years at Liverpool earlier in his career.

ESPN FC report that Hungary international Gulasci has come to the attention of the Premier League duo after his impressive form for Bundesliga big hitters RB Leipzig.

Arsenal No1 Cech, 35, is in the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates and his deputy David Ospina is consistently linked with a move away.

Good move for Arsenal?

Gulasci has pedigree and top-level experience in a major European league, so it is understandable why he is on Arsenal’s radar. His form for Leipzig, who are third in the Bundesliga table, is also impressive from his 14 matches this season. But Gulasci failed to make the cut at Liverpool, remarkably spending five years at the club without ever making an appearance. Nevertheless, he has rebuilt his career after joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2013 and has made considerable strides since his anonymous Anfield days.

Likely to happen?

Possibly, but it’s early days and it’s difficult to see this deal happening in the January window, which Arsene Wenger tends to avoid like the plague. Gulasci is only likely to quit Leipzig for the Gunners if he is assured that he will be installed as the No1 at Emirates Stadium.
