David Ginola believes that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy could have a big decision to make on Mauricio Pochettino in six months if the club continue their silverware drought.

Spurs have not lifted a trophy since the 2008 League Cup win over Chelsea and most fans believe the current group of players is their best in decades.

The North London club have been in the race for the Premier League titles for the past two campaigns, but have lost out to Chelsea and Leicester respectively.

They are hoping this year they can finally get over the line in their pursuit of silverware and have made a good start in the Champions League by reaching the knockout rounds.

Ginola has heaped tremendous praise on the work of Pocehttino at Spurs as he has galvanised them into a brilliant team and wants him to have a long-term future at the club.

However, he has claimed that another season without a trophy could lead to an ultimatum in six months time surrounding the 45-year-old manager.

“They’re [Spurs] doing amazingly well, very impressed, very composed, very mature,” Ginola told French publication AS.

“You know, if Spurs are doing well now, Pochettino is the king, let’s see in six months time if he is not winning anything, if he stays as the king.

“I would love him to because stability for the club is keeping the managers as much as possible, as long as possible because that’s a priority.”

OPINION

Pochettino has done a superb job since he arrived at Spurs in 2014 and his future should be very secure for the next couple of year. He has got his side playing an exciting brand of football, something that the fans demand. The Argentinian has also focused on bringing through young talents and several of the have gone on to become senior stars. It is true that Spurs do need to get over the line to win silverware on a regular basis and their upcoming move to a new ground will bring more pressure. However, Pochettino is the best man for the job and must be kept all costs as he can eventually bring great success.
