Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier is a better crosser of the ball than Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne.

Trippier, 27, has become renowned for his delivery during his time with Spurs and is a big attacking threat for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The England international usually plays in a right wing-back formation and it allows him to cause damage in the final third.

He already supplied seven assists in just 13 games across all competitions as the likes of Harry Kane continue to thrive off his service.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old De Bruyne is a central midfielder that is arguably the frontrunner for the PFA Player of the Year award so far this season.

The Belgian playmaker has been in brilliant form of late and his crossing ability has helped him create nine assists during his 18 games.

Carragher has claimed that Spurs full-back Trippier has the edge over City talisman De Bruyne in terms of crossing and argued that he is the best in the Premier League.

“By moving five or 10 yards to the right he’s (De Bruyne) in a crossing position and there’s no better crosser of a ball in the Premier League, perhaps with the exception of Kieran Trippier,” Carragher said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

OPINION

Trippier’s game has improved so much in the past couple of seasons and rightfully so his ability from wide areas is finally being recognised. The defender is a brilliant attacking threat for Spurs when he plays and his accurate delivery is a centre-forward’s dream, which is why Kane has scored so many goals off him. He is in a battle with teammate Serge Aurier for the permanent starting position in the Spurs XI and there is not much too choose between the pairing. However, Trippier is such a lethal weapon with his quality into the penalty area that he just has the nod right now.
