Everton fans have gone into meltdown on Twitter after Sky Sports reported that Sam Allardyce has agreed a deal to become their next manager.
Sky report that former England boss Allardyce has finalised terms with the club and will be announced as their next manager before their game with West Ham on Wednesday.
Allardyce was linked with the job a few weeks ago but dropped out of the running, claiming that he didn’t think the Everton board wanted him enough.
However, it now seems as though the club have gone full circle and returned to Allardyce after a disastrous run of games has seen the threat of relegation become a real possibility.
Sky report that a sticking point remained over the length of Allardyce’s contract, but that has now been resolved and an announcement is expected imminently.
Allardyce is well known for his exploits in keeping teams in the Premier League, having never been relegated as a top-flight manager.
Everton fans will be hoping he can achieve the same again at Goodison Park, but with a squad as strong as theirs, many seem to think that the club should have aimed higher than Allardyce.
The Toffees currently lie in 16th in the Premier League, and have won just one game in seven under caretaker boss David Unsworth, who will return to his job as coach of the club’s U-23s.
This is Futbol have rounded up some of the best tweets:
Apart from the clapped out had beens he had at West Ham, who is #Allardyce going to attract in January. James Collins perhaps.

In the summer nearly every player who came in stated that playing under Koeman and getting coach by him were big factors for joining Everton. How on earth do we think Allardyce will be able to attract real players to bring us forward?! @Everton

Sam Allardyce becoming Manager of Everton is as if every joke I’ve ever made at expense of every other team has been collected, totted up, then flung back in my Face as one Giant, Swollen Hunk of Payback. Like every Evertonian, today the day I discovers Karma exists pic.twitter.com/BbgCS32hPt

We fired Koeman at week 9 with of this season. It's week 14 and we're just now appointing a manager…and it's Sam Allardyce.
All signs point to our board being completely incomepetant.
