Leeds United fell to a 4-1 defeat by rampant Wolves on Wednesday night to slip to their eighth loss in their last 10 matches in all competitions.
Yet another setback for Thomas Christiansen’s side swiftly punctured the balloon of optimism generated by their 2-1 weekend win against Middlesbrough.
On a wet, windy night at Molineux, Wolves eased to their biggest home win of the season through goals from Barry Douglas, Ivan Cavaleiro, Diogo Jota and Helder Costa.
Ezgjan Alioski pulled one back for Leeds early in the second half with a sumptuous volley to peg the score back to 2-1 but Ronaldo Vieira was then sent off for a second booking and the visitors caved in.
Leeds’ defeat means they have slipped to 10th in the table, three points behind sixth-placed Middlesbrough in the final play-off place.
The microscope is on the players who have struggled in so many big matches over the last two months.
