Celtic fans believe that Scotland manager Gordon Strachan needs to give Callum McGregor a place in the international squad after his recent performance for Celtic.

The 24-year-old prevented the Hoops from losing their first domestic match of the season and scored both of Celtic’s goals during their 2-2 draw against Hibernian.

McGregor fired home to opening goal of the match in the first-half, and Hibernian responded in the second after John McGinn found the back of the net twice to put Neil Lennon’s side ahead with just 13 minutes left on the clock.

The Scotsman ensured the sides drew in the 80th minute of the game, and many fans believe his efforts are worthy of an international call-up.

McGregor has featured at every age level between the Under-15s and the Under-21s for his country, but is yet to make his senior debut.

One supporter even branded the situation a “head scratcher” because of his omission from Strachan’s squad.

The draw still means that Celtic are at the summit of the Premiership standings on goal difference as Aberdeen lurk closely behind, while Hibernian drop to sixth place in the table on level points with Motherwell.

After the international break, Rodgers and his squad will prepare to face Dundee at Celtic Park in their ninth Premiership match of the season.
