Wolves are interested in a January swoop for Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Premier League club Bournemouth will offload the 24-year-old in January and that he is valued at £12million despite his recent struggles on the pitch.

It is understood that Wolves will be one of the Championship sides interested in the centre-forward in the next transfer window.

The report also details that West Brom are also keen on a deal if manager Tony Pulis can negotiate the right price.

Afobe is believed to be keen on remaining in the top flight, where he has scored 10 goals in 52 appearances for Bournemouth.

However, he previously played in the Championship with Wolves and scored 22 goals in just 46 league games for them.

Good move for Wolves?

Wolves are attempting to secure automatic promotion this season and the capture of Afobe could be the difference in a return to the Premier League.

The striker previously enjoyed a brillaint goalscoring run at Molineux and became a big favourite with fans.

He would be able to do so again in an exciting side and is a strong focal point at the top of attack.

Afobe has struggled to replicate his best form in the Premier League, but there is no doubting he would be prolific in the Championship if he re-signed for Wolves in January.

The 24-year-old still has time to develop areas of his game and would be strong competition for the likes of Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini.

Likely to happen?

Most Wolves supporters would gladly welcome back Afobe to the club, but it seems like this deal may be unlikely.

The Midlands club have shown they have the spending power and it would be no surprise to see them match the £12million valuation, but a lot would rest on the player.

Afobe is keen to remain in the top flight and that is understandable after already proving himself in the Championship.

He is yet to score in eight games for Bournemouth so far this season and his form is a major concern.
