Liverpool are one of three Premier League teams eyeing Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Reds are in the hunt for the 18-year-old attacker alongside rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.

It is understood that scouts from three clubs were monitoring him on Wednesday night as he starred for Germany’s Under-19s side.

He captained the youth team to a comprehensive 5-1 win and scored a remarkable four goals.

The report details that the teenager has already been compared to the likes of Mesut Ozil and Michael Ballack as he develops.

Havertz’s comparison with current Arsenal star Ozil could be an encouraging sign for Liverpool fans as the latter is renowned for being a technically gifted player with an eye for goal.

Good move for Liverpool?

Havertz is an exciting talent at Bayer Leverkusen and has already made five senior appearances for the German club this season.

The attacker usually plays in a number 10 role, but can also be used out wide or at the point of attack.

He looks to be a very exciting talent in the Bundesliga and a player that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may be fully aware of given his German expertise.

The Reds are already brilliant going forward and have talented stars such as Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in their ranks.

However, they should always be looking to future stars and 18-year-old Havertz appears to have all the ingredients.

The playmaker has four goals and six assists in 33 senior appearances for Leverkusen, which suggests he could be ready for a big-money Premier League move in the near future.

Likely to happen?

Any chance that Liverpool could land rising star Havertz still appear a long way off as they are still only scooting the youngster.

It is unclear whether Leverkusen would be willing to lose one of their prized possessions and there would also be the added competition from Premier League rivals.

Havertz’s performance for Germany’s Under-21s side will not have gone unnoticed and he should emerge on to the radar of big clubs.

However, Klopp could be the major pulling power if Liverpool did step up their bid for the attacker and has shown he is prepared to promote youth.
