Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that his side will go all out to try and sign Tottenham midfielder Josh Onomah.

The 20-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with Villa from Spurs and has impressed so far.

He starred for the Championship side on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Fulham and is viewed as an exciting prospect.

Bruce has revealed that the Midlands giants would try “break the bank” to sign the England Under-20 international on a permanent deal, but recognised that it will be difficult to achieve.

“Josh Onomah was terrific today [against Fulham],” Bruce told the Birmingham Mail. “We’ll try and break the bank for him!

“But we know Spurs have got a very good player there.”
Onomah is a highly-rated talent at Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino decided to send him out loan to experience first-team experience.

The versatile ace can play anywhere across the midfield and was used in the number 10 playmaker role at the weekend.

He is technically gifted and comfortable in possession, something that is making him standout in the Championship.

Onomah has made 14 appearances across all competitions so far this campaign for Villa and will want to now cement a position in the starting XI as he continues his development.

OPINION

Spurs will be keeping a close eye on Onomah during his loan away and they should reject any potential moves from Villa for their rising star. He is picking up valuable experience in the Championship and has the potential to become a future first-team star. The North London club have so many young English talents on their books and Onomah is certainly one of the best. He helped England’s Under-20s side win the World Cup in the summer and is good enough to make a senior breakthrough in the coming years.
