Outspoken pundit Chris Sutton has named three Rangers in his SPL team of the week.

Rangers defenders James Tavernier and Ross McCrorie were included in Sutton’s eleven alongside club captain Kenny Miller following their 3-1 victory against Hearts on the weekend.

In their first match since Pedro Caixinha’s sacking, the Gers responded in style coming back from behind to take all three points at Murrayfield Stadium, with Miller bagging himself a brace and Josh Windass also getting amongst the goals.

Tavernier produced a fine assist for Miller’s second goal and McCrorie produced a solid performance in the back-four alongside fellow centre-back Danny Wilson.

Sutton revealed his team of the week on his official Twitter account on Monday afternoon and surprisingly, there were no Celtic players included following their 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock.

OPINION

Sutton is renowned for his controversial opinions about Rangers due to his affiliation with Old Firm rivals Celtic during his playing career. However this time around, he had to admit that Rangers delivered the goods this past weekend as the players showed that it hadn’t taken them a long time to get over Caixinha’s sacking the previous week. Sutton was very open in his criticism towards the former Rangers boss so this might also be a sly dig towards him. Striker Kenny Miller deserves a lot of credit for the way he returned to the first-team and made the desired impact after being left out in the cold by Caixinha in recent weeks. If the Gers can build on this weekend’s performance, Sutton will have no other choice than to include them in his team every week.
