Diego Maradona has advised Tottenham striker Harry Kane to vary up his shooting to avoid becoming predictable for goalkeepers.

The Argentinian footballing legend was in attendance on Sunday to watch Spurs crush Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley in the Premier League.

Maradona is renowned as one of the all-time greats to play the game and he watched Spurs’ in-form Kane net twice against Liverpool at the weekend.

Maradona has suggested to the 24-year-old to mix up his type of shots as goalkeepers will be studying his technique, as cited by Spurs’ official Twitter account.

“Don’t always go near post with your shots. Go across goal sometimes,” he said.

“You know why? Goalkeepers watch you on TV all the time. So next time…across!”

Kane has become a star man for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in recent years and has managed to keep improving this season.

The Englishman has already scored 13 goals in just 12 games across all competitions this season and also helped his nation qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

He has proved that he is no one-season wonder and is growing into one of the best strikers in the world.

OPINION

Kane has shown over the years that he can score a variety of different goals and has turned into a brilliant all-round player. The centre-forward is going through a purple patch of form and will be considered alongside the very best if he continues at this level. His ambition should now be to guide Spurs to the Premier League title this season and he will need to keep firing the goals if they are to beat current leaders Manchester City. Meanwhile, he will also have one eye on next summer as the World Cup finals loom and England will want him to enter the tournament in fine form.
