Eric Dier has heaped tremendous praise on Tottenham teammate Harry Kane and hailed him for his influence in England’s narrow win over Slovenia.

Gareth Southgate’s side face Lithuania on Sunday in their final World Cup qualifier and it may be a chance to rest some players as their place in the major tournament is already booked.

Kane scored a 94th minute on Thursday as the Three Lions beat Slovenia 1-0 to reach the World Cup finals and the the striker continued his brilliant form.
The centre-forward has now scored 14 goals in his last eight games for club or country.

The 24-year-old even captained England to their win in mid-week and has become recognised as one of the top strikers in world football.

Dier, who plays alongside Kane at Spurs, has raved about his “fantastic” team-mate and believes he once again showed his predatory instincts when playing for his country.

“He is fantastic,” Dier said, as quoted by the Mirror. “He scored at the end [against Slovenia] and showed such great desire to get in there and score. That’s what Harry does, isn’t it?”

OPINION

Kane is really beginning to reach the peak of his power and is showing the kind of consistency that makes him one of the best strikers in the business. He has developed his game so much in the past couple of years and is becoming a modern-day forward. The striker will be attracting interest from European giants and Spurs’ best chance to keep him is to win silverware on a regular basis. Mauricio Pochettino’s side would find it impossible to replace Kane if he left and that will be a fear playing on the minds of Spurs fans.
