Liverpool strongest XI against Manchester United

|

Goalkeeper and defence

Simon Mignolet (Goalkeeper) – The Belgian is the regular league No1 and is should keep his place after making a solid start to the campaign that makes a mockery of Klopp’s rotation policy between competition.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Right-back) – The teenager looked at home when making his full Premier League debut at Old Trafford last season and has a more varied attacking game than fellow youngster Joe Gomez, who he has rotated with at right-back this season.

Joel Matip (Centre-back) – Liverpool’s outstanding defender will need to be at the top of his game to quell Romelu Lukaku and an in-form United attacker.

Dejan Lovren (Centre-back) – The Croatian is nobody’s idea of a water-tight centre-back and has been popping pills to ease the pain of a crippling back problem, but he is a better option that Ragnar Klavan. Which isn’t saying a great deal.

Andy Robertson (Left-back) – The summer signing, 23, impressed for Scotland during the international break and should be handed only his fourth Liverpool appearance in place of the error-prone Alberto Moreno.
