Oliver Sarkic is raring to get going after his loan move from Benfica to Leeds United was confirmed on Friday.

The Whites announced on their official website that the 20-year-old attacker had agreed terms to join the Yorkshire giants on a short-term deal which will expire at the end of December.

The Montenegrin attacker will hook up with the Leeds Under-23 side as he becomes the latest of a spate of additions in the last few months which has seen the development squad bolstered by talent across Europe.

Now, Sarkic has hailed the size and stature of his new club despite coming from Champions League side Benfica.

“So excited to start this journey with such a massive club. Can’t wait to wear the shirt.” he said on his personal Twitter account on Friday.

Good move for Leeds?

Sarkic is probably a good prospect but it’s hard to see why Leeds have pulled this move off. They clearly value their Under-23 squad but it makes no sense to strengthen in with players that are coming in on loan – all that does is aid the player himself and not the club. Unless there is an option to buy Sarkic, this is a pretty strange piece of business from the Whites.

Good move for Sarkic?

The attacker is coming from a club that has a history of producing some of Europe’s finest talent in Benfica. Although he is nowhere near the first team there, it seems as though he won’t get senior squad at Leeds either. Sarkic may see his loan move to Elland Road as a platform to showcase himself to other English sides who may be willing to sign him up for good.
