Rangers must release Myles Beerman from his Ibrox contract in order to help him find a new club following the season-long loan signing of Declan John from Cardiff.

The Gers completed the signing of two-time Wales international John on deadline day, just hours before the window shut on Thursday evening at 11pm.

Now, 22-year-old John is expected to act as back-up to Rangers skipper Lee Wallace, while Northern Ireland international Lee Hodson acts as James Tavernier’s replacement on the right side of defence.

That leaves former Man City youth player Beerman as third choice on the left side of defence and he should be on the lookout for a new club with first-team football likely to be at a premium under Pedro Caixinha.

The two-time Malta international is a rising star but is in the final year of his contract and the two parties should come to a mutual agreement to terminate his current deal in order to aid Beerman in finding a new club.

Beerman broke into the Gers’ first team last season, making eight appearances for the 54-time Scottish champions and now needs first-team football to further his development in professional football.

Known for his combative nature and willingness to get forward as well as being a fully-fledged international at just 18 years of age, Beerman would almost certainly gain interest from down south as well as Scottish clubs.

With only a matter of months remaining on his contract, a compensation package would be a lot cheaper than having to release a player that had recently signed a new deal.

For the good of his career, Beerman needs to find a new club after plummeting down the pecking order behind John and Wallace, and Rangers should do everything they can to help their number 36 find a new home by releasing him, rather than offering him a new contract.
