Leeds thrilled their fans on Tuesday night at Turf Moor, beating Burnley on penalties to move through to the next round of the League Cup.

Hadi Sacko scored the first goal for Leeds in the 80th minute after coming on as a 60th minute substitute for the woeful Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

He was unleashed by fellow substitute Pablo Hernandez and stuck the ball through Nick Pope’s legs in the Burnley goal.

It looked like that would be the winner, but a flurry of goals saw the match end up 2-2, and Leeds went on to win on penalties.

After the game Sacko delivered a message to the leeds fans that simply read, “Passion”, with an image of the Leeds team celebrating.

OPINION

In a cup tie that had everything – four late goals, a reunion with two former players and a dramatic penalty shootout – the win could be a massive boost for Leeds after defeat by Millwall on Saturday. One thing that’s typified Leeds this season is the thing that Sacko tweeted about – passion. The team spirit is there for everyone to see under Thomas Christiansen and it’s this sort of togetherness that wins trophies and seals promotion. It’s obviously way too early in the season to be talking about promotion but Leeds fans are in for a treat this season. The image in Sacko’s tweet sums up the first part of the season. If they can keep the passion going and bond as a team, they sky’s the limit for Leeds.
