Three things we learned from Leeds win v Burnley

|

1. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson needs to grow up

It seems that there’s something seriously up with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

He made his debut for Leeds in the League Cup against Port Vale and looked decent in the Championship against Preston.

Since then, his only other appearance has been in the League Cup, with today being his first outing in a month.

It’s odd as he came on loan from Man United with rumours that he had been promised first-team football.

That hasn’t happened and on the basis of tonight’s evidence it might not happen again in the Championship – or in Leeds colours – anytime soon.

He looked off the pace and disinterested, giving the ball away and committing fouls.

It wasn’t the sort of performance you’d want to see as a manager if you were looking for commitment and a reaction.

When he got taken off in the second half he looked petulant and slumped on the bench with a scowl.

Borthwick-Jackson had a failed loan move to Wolves last season and it looks like this might be his second, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he got sent back to Old Trafford.

That could have serious implications on his Man United career too, and he’d only have himself to blame.
