Jamie Redknapp has claimed he could see Tottenham making a late bid to try sign Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha.

Spurs have had a long-standing interested in the 24-year-old, but the Guardian reported back in May that they had abandoned any hopes of signing him.

The north London club are yet to make any signings so far in the summer window, but manager Mauricio Pochettino has vowed to bring in some new faces.

Ex-Spurs midfielder Redknapp has stated he wouldn’t be surprised to see his former club reignite a deal to try sign wide man Zaha.

“I think there’s a problem if Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli picks up an injury,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “I wouldn’t even be surprised if they put in a late bid for Wilfried Zaha.”

Zaha was Palace’s star performer last season and managed to guide them away from the relegation place.

The right winger made 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying 11 assists in return.

The Ivory Coast international is blessed with brilliant pace and technical ability, while also improving his end product in recent years.

OPINION

Pochettino is known to be a keen admirer of Zaha and he should plot a late raid on the Palace talisman. Spurs desperately need to send out a message to their fans, their league rivals, and to the rest of the squad that they will be serious title contenders in the new campaign. The north London club do have a formidable starting line-up, but currently don’t have enough cover in their squad. Zaha would be an excellent understudy to the likes of Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son, while he would also get his fair share of game time due to Spurs’ involvement in Europe and domestic competitions.
