OPINION

West Brom manager Tony Pulis is reportedly hopeful of completing a double swoop for Tottenham first teamers Vincent Janssen and Kevin Wimmer on Wednesday.

The Sun claim that the Premier League boss hopes to sign the pair imminently as Spurs are prepared to sell, while the club are confident of offering top wages to fend off any rivals.

It is understood that Wimmer’s £15million exit will be sanctioned following the expected arrival of defender Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

Meanwhile, Spurs forward Janssen is also valued at £15million and could be set to bolster the frontline at the Hawthorns.

The report details West Brom feel they can beat Stoke to Janssen’s signature, which would see them wrap up a combined £30million deal for the Spurs duo.

Good move for Spurs?

Spurs would be making a decent £30million sum on two of their fringe players if they sell the pair to West Brom, but it would leave the squad very light.

Mauricio Pochettino needs to ensure the north London club have various options to help them compete in both domestic and European competitions this season.

They appear to have enough defensive options to allow Wimmer to leave, who has just been unable to break into the starting XI during his time with the club.

However, Spurs are limited in their genuine forward options and Janssen is the only back-up to talisman Harry Kane.

Spurs can’t afford to let Janssen leave until they have secured another forward, but a fresh move for the Dutchman is arguably the best move for the individual.

Likely to happen?

Both senior players appear unlikely to force their way into Spurs’ very strong starting line-up and will be desperate to secure first-team action elsewhere.

West Brom seems like a probable destination as they are a solid Premier League outfit that are looking to establish themselves as a regular top-10 team.

Wimmer’s exit has been on the cards for a while after failing to make the desired impact, while Janssen endured a torrid first season last year and may not get another campaign to redeem himself.
