OPINION

Inter Milan are reportedly reluctant to sell Tottenham target Jeison Murillo this summer.

Italian outlet Calcio Meracto claim that the Serie A club want to keep the £11.8million-rated defender as they don’t feel confident about finding a replacement.

It is understood that Spurs and Arsenal are both interested in the Colombian centre-back, who is keen to move away from Inter.

The report details that Valencia are also keen on signing Murillo and their manager has held talks with the player.

Good move for Spurs?

Spurs do need to bring in some more options to their squad before the window closes, but centre-back is not one of those areas.

Murillo is a decent player that has proven his qualities in Serie A and La Liga, with his £11.8million rated price tag a decent price for a young defender.

He would be a useful player to have in the Spurs squad and more options should give them a better chance to compete in the Champions League.

However, he shouldn’t be a priority as they have the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Kevin Wimmer and Cameron Carter-Vickers as capable centre-backs.

Murillo also has no experience in the Premier League and is not the type of signing that would encourage the club’s supporters

Likely to happen?

Mauricio Pochettino could still make a few late signings before the end of August, but it doesn’t seem likely that Murillo will be one of those.

The 25-year-old has already been in talks with Valencia and the Spanish club seems his most likely destination if he is on the move on this summer.

Inter are also reluctant to let the centre-back go as they don’t feel they can get a strong enough replacement at £11.8million.
