Brendan Rodgers must jump ahead of the queue and lure free agent Johan Djourou to Celtic this summer in order to ease his defensive concerns.

Swiss outlet RTS Sport claim Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing the 30-year-old defender, who is without a club after his contract expired at Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.

The former Arsenal defender is known for his aerial prowess and composure when in possession of the football, and has seemingly removed the odd calamitous error from his displays.

Celtic have made just three signings this summer in former Man City youngster Oliver Ntcham, Kundai Benyu from Ipswich Town and experienced attacker Jonny Hayes, but is expected to continue such arrivals with Champions League football on the horizon.
