This comes after widespread reports that Liverpool were given the green light by Arsenal today to hold talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain in a deal that the BBC Sport website report will cost around £40million.
Good move for Liverpool?
Yes. Oxlade-Chamberlain has flattered to deceive for a long time at Arsenal, despite being heralded by manager Arsene Wenger as a talent of real substance. He’s been a fully-fledged England international for a long time and yet Gunners supporters are unsure whether he’s the real deal or not. Yet, there is a sense he needs a different manager to unlock his immense potential. Mobile, technically excellent, tactically astute and capable of creating and scoring goals, Oxlade-Chamberlain can be a great asset, played in his proper attacking midfield position. This could be one of the deals of the season.

Likely to happen?
Barring a last-gasp hitch, it now looks likely that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a Liverpool player by tomorrow night. With a medical on the cards while he’s on international duty and the two clubs reportedly close to agreeing terms, it appears that the 24-year-old’s time at Arsenal is now drawing to a close.
