Ronald Koeman will have taken plenty of positives away from Everton’s 1-0 win over Ruzemberok on Thursday night in Slovenia.

The Toffees progressed into the play-off round of the Europa League qualifying stage at the Štadión pod Cebratom with a 1-0 win in the second leg, thanks to Dom Calvert-Lewin’s fine finish with 10 minutes left on the clock.

The goal saw Everton progress with a 2-0 aggregate score after Leighton Baines’ long-range strike had given the Merseyside club a 1-0 advantage going into the second leg.

Plenty of new signings featured in the second leg, with Jordan Pickford starting in goal alongside Michael Keane, Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen all starting the match.

The Toffees now face Croatian giants Hajduk Split in the final qualifying round, as they look to book their place in the group stages of the European competition.

This Is Futbol examines three talking points about Koeman’s side following the match ahead of their Premier League opener against Stoke City on August 12 at Goodison Park.
