Leeds United have sealed the signing of Malmo forward Pawel Cibicki, according to pictures shared on Twitter.

Reports in Sweden and England in the last 24 hours have suggested Leeds are on the verge of finalising a deal for the former Sweden Under-21 international, who is renowned for his mobility and can play on either the wings or as an orthodox front man.

Leeds supporter Chris Taylor shared images on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night that showed the Yorkshire giants have put the finishing touches to the transfer.

Cibicki, 23, is pictured holding aloft a Leeds shirt bearing the number 22 at Elland Road and is also shown penning a contract while being watched by the club’s director of football Victor Orta.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds fans could be forgiven for feeling somewhat underwhelmed at the prospect of signing yet another young forward unproven in the Championship. The two striker arrivals this summer, Caleb Ekuban and Jay-Roy Grot, are both raw and promising but have no track records to fall back on. Leeds need a proven goalscorer to replace the goals of Chris Wood, who topped the Championship charts last season. With £15million to play with from the Wood sale, supporters will be concerned that Cibicki is just another bargain buy from Orta and Leeds supremo Andrea Radrizzani. The pacy flyer has great potential and his versatility and mobility are major assets, but is he the player to spearhead a promotion push? It’s unlikely.

Likely to happen?

The pictures say it all. This is a done deal. There has been no official announcement from either club, but that will come later in the day as Leeds aim to tie up a number of last-gasp signings.
