Newcastle should be making a move to sign Leicester attacker Tom Lawrence after being linked with him earlier in the summer.
The Mirror report that Brighton are lining up a move for the 23-year-old and are prepared to break their transfer record with an £8million offer.
However, the Magpies should hijack Brighton’s attempts and try bring the Wales international to St James’ Park.
The Chronicle reported back in May that Newcastle were considering a move for Lawrence and were running checks on him.
He has been with Leicester since 2014, but the former Manchester United academy starlet has been unable to make a serious impression and been loaned out four times.
The winger enjoyed a superb campaign last year with Ipswich and made 39 appearances for them, scoring 11 goals and supplying 11 assists in return.
