Scott Sinclair has insisted that QPR’s Steven Caulker would be a great addition to the Celtic defence.

The English defender has admitted that he is suffering some tough times at the moment, and Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers has recently offered his support to the player he once worked alongside at Swansea.

Sinclair, 28, was also struggling in England prior to a move to Celtic Park, only see to his career reinvigorated by Rodgers as he won the Scottish player of the year award on the way to a domestic treble.

And the former Swansea and Manchester City winger believes that Caulker could emulate his achievements if he was to move north of the border.

“Caulks would be a great signing,” said Sinclair, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“The manager knows him well from being at Swansea. He had an amazing season there and hopefully he can get his career back on track.

“This would be a great club for him to be at as well. I’m sure he looks at myself and can see I was at a crossroads before I came here.

“But there is no better place to be at than Celtic. If he ever spoke to me I’d tell him it’s the best place to be.”

Caulker’s game time was limited at Loftus Road last season as he made 14 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions before suffering a season-ending injury, meaning he hasn’t played since October.

The one-time England international has recently confessed to struggling with personal issues away from the game, which led to Rodgers offering his support to his former player.

Caulker’s career has failed to take off ever since he quit Tottenham despite being one of their more promising youth talents at the time.

He has since had spells at Cardiff and QPR, where he has seen attempts at getting back into the Premier League with loan stints at Southampton and Liverpool prove futile.
