Newcastle have announced that they have completed the signings of Stefan O’Connor and Josef Yarney.
The Magpies confirmed the two completed deals on Thursday with a statement on the club’s official website and added that both players will hook up with Peter Beardsley’s Under-23 squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
O’Connor, 20, moves to Tyneside after he was released by Arsenal at the end of June.
The centre-back earned one first-team appearance for the Gunners, which came in a Champions League group stage win over Galatasaray in 2014.
He spent last season on loan in the Dutch second tier with MVV Maastricht, but only earned four appearances – amounting to a staggeringly low four minutes of action.
Yarney, 19, transfers to Newcastle after his contract with Everton expired.
Like O’Connor, Yarney is also a centre-back, but has never earned a senior appearance in his budding career.
He featured heavily in the Toffees’ Under-23s last term and played in every minute of their EFL Cup campaign, helping his side earn a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Bolton last August.
Yarney already has one appearance for the Newcastle Under-23 side as he arrived on Tyneside in April when he featured as a trialist in the Premier League 2 win at Middlesbrough.
