Burnley confirmed the signing of Charlie Taylor on a four-year deal on Thursday morning – and Leeds fans on Twitter weren’t exactly kind to their outgoing man.
The 23-year-old defender made is clear that he wasn’t going to sign a new deal at Elland Road and he refused to play in the Whites’ final match of the campaign against Wigan in May.
He will join a Burnley side that had a very impressive season last time out in the Premier League, but the club confirmed on their official website that a fee is yet to be agreed upon between the two sides.
As Taylor is under the age of 24 and a product of the Leeds academy, United will be entitled to a compensation fee which will now be decided at a tribunal.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has previously reported that the Whites will receive at least £5million from the tribunal which will settle the amount paid by Burnley for Taylor’s services.
Even though he has played a prominent role in the Leeds rearguard for some time, the Elland Road faithful have been less than kind to the academy product as he heads to the Premier League for the first time.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

As soon as he refused I lost all respect for Charlie Taylor. Haven't considered him one of the squad since April. Move on. #lufc

Leeds not even acknowledging Taylor has left shows how far little the club cares about him #lufc

Any player refusing to play for the team is a no no, we move on us Leeds fans thought Taylor would have gone to a bigger club but £££ talks.

Good…sadly for him he'll only be remembered as the kid who refused to play for this great club, not one who came through the system #lufc
