Wolves are back in for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher who is also being eyed by Midlands rivals Birmingham, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun transfer correspondent has detailed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that the 21-year-old is of interest to the two Championship clubs with a loan deal possible.

The claims follow a report from the Sun in December stating that Wolves were looking at Gallagher while led by manager Paul Lambert.

The powerful youngster was on loan at Blackburn from Southampton at the time and he has recently signed a new four-year contract at the Premier League club, meaning that a loan deal is the most likely for Wolves at this time.

The Wanderers have changed management this summer with Nuno Espirito Santo taking over from Lambert while they have also brought in Ruben Neves from FC Porto in a high profile deal thought to be worth £15million.

Gallagher himself played in 47 matches in all competitions for Blackburn while on loan last season, returning 12 goals.

He has also played 20 times for the Southampton senior team, scoring twice and he may now be seeking a further loan move this summer in order to gain more first team experience.
