Tottenham and West Ham keen on signing Sigurdsson

Tottenham and West Ham are keen on signing Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer, according to the Daily Star.

But, league rivals Everton are also eyeing the 27-year-old and the report states that Ronald Koeman will continue his summer spending with a £40million swoop for the Iceland international.

The Star reports that the three Premier League clubs are all looking at the Swans star alongside 2016 league champions Leicester with the Toffees said to be “clearly in the driving seat.”

But, it will take a very large bid for the Welsh club to allow their star player to leave the Liberty Stadium and the reported £40million would equal a record transfer for each of the four teams alongside almost doubling Swansea’s record £25million received from Manchester City for Wilfried Bony back in 2015.

Last season Sigurdsson played a huge role in helping Paul Clement’s team retain their Premier League status with a return of nine goals and 13 assists from 38 league matches.

He has of course previously played for Tottenham between 2012 and 2014 and it was current boss Mauricio Pochettino who allowed him to leave White Hart Lane three years a go.

However, the 50-time capped Iceland international has since become one of the Premier League’s finest players and a bidding war could start up for Sigurdsson this summer with the reported interest.
