Defender duo Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning are on the verge of completing loan moves from Everton to Sunderland, according to Sky Sports news journalist Keith Downie.

The north east reporter has claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that the young pair are on their way for medicals ahead of a temporary transfer away from Goodison Park, while veteran attacker Aiden McGeady is also close to an exit as he is in advanced negotiations over a permanent move to the Black Cats.

McGeady, 31, previously worked with recently appointed Sunderland manager Simon Grayson at Preston and was named the Lancashire club’s Player of the Year for the last campaign.

He found life more difficult at Everton after joining in January 2014, playing just 43 times and returning one goal and it is believed he will now be looking to move to join a manager who knows him well.

Meanwhile, defensive pair Browning and Galloway are thought of as prospects for the future and they will be seeking further first team experience.

Browning, 23, also spent time at Preston under Grayson, joining in January 2017 until the end of the season where he played eight times.

Meanwhile, Galloway, 21, had an unsuccessful loan spell under Tony Pulis at West Brom in the last campaign with the left-back making just five appearances over the entire season.

Everton have been busy signing five players already this summer and while their fixture list has been extended by the Europa League it is expected that some will have to make way.
