SPL sides chase Rangers forward O’Halloran

Partick Thistle are interested in signing Rangers winger Michael O’Halloran during the summer transfer window, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that the SPL side are currently holding discussions with the Glaswegian club over a potential transfer for the 26-year-old as they look to add more attacking options to their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

It is said that O’Halloran has been informed that he is surplus to requirements at Rangers.

The report claims that Partick Thistle will face some competition as fellow SPL rivals St Johnstone are also in the hunt to land the attacking midfielder this summer.

O’Halloran enjoyed a decent two-year spell with the Saints before securing a move to Rangers, notching up 17 goals in 91 appearances.

The Sun also reports that the Rangers man has been attracting interest from clubs outside of Scotland as the player looks set to depart Ibrox this summer.

The winger was left out of the Europa League squad that failed to overcome Luxembourg outfit Progres Niederkorn in the first qualifying round of the competition.

Rangers signed the forward for £500,000 at the start of the 2015-16 season but he made a significant impact in his debut campaign, contributing with eight goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

O’Halloran struggled to replicate his performances last season as he failed to score a single goal in 24 matches in all competitions.

The Scotsman’s current contract at Ibrox runs out in 2020.
