Rafa Benitez would solve his dilemma on the right side of defence at Newcastle with the signing of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on a season-long loan.

Liverpool confirmed on their website that they have tied down the future of their 18-year-old wing back on a long-term deal, after breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s first team last season and making 12 senior appearances.

Known for his desire to get forward and bags of pace on the right flank, Reds academy product Alexander-Arnold has starred for Liverpool but is in need of regular first-team football to maximise his potential for years to come.

Newcastle have already completed moves for two players this summer, bringing French defender Florian Lejeune to St. James’ Park from La Liga outfit Eibar while Christian Atsu has signed a permanent deal in the north east.
