Saiz and Ekuban to undergo Leeds medicals

Striker Caleb Ekuban will join playmaker Samuel Saiz in undergoing a Leeds United medical on Tuesday as the club’s transfer blitz continues, according to a reliable journalist.

Radio Yorkshire correspondent Joe Rawson reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday night that Ekuban, 23, had arrived in Manchester on Monday night ahead of undergoing a medical at United on Tuesday.

Transfer expert Rawson say the Italian born Ghanaian centre-forward will have a Leeds medical on the same day as Saiz, who jetted into England on Monday to complete a transfer from Spanish club Huesca.

The Championship club announced on their official website on Monday evening that the 26-year-old had agreed the terms of a move from the second division outfit and it was subject to an imminent medical.

There has been no confirmation about Ekuban but reports have suggested that he is in advanced talks to become Leeds’ eighth summer signing.

The Yorkshire giants have already finalised six captures, with new arrivals Vurnon Anita, Mateusz Klich, Felix Wiedwald and Madger Gomes joining 2016-17 loanees Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko, who have signed permanent contracts.

The club are now in line to push through the signings of Ekuban and Saiz before they set off on Friday for their pre-season tour of Austria.

It means that Ekuban will bring to an end a seven-year spell at Serie A club Chievo, where he has not actually played for the first team due to spells out on loan.

But he has not played for their senior team and has had four different spells on loan.

Ekuban scored 18 goals and supplied five assists in 42 matches in all competitions while at Albanian top flight side Partizani Tirana last season, with 17 of his strikes coming from 34 league fixtures.
