Tottenham are ready to hijack Leicester’s bid to sign Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City as part of a stunning swap deal, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that Spurs may sign Iheanacho in part exchange for Kyle Walker completing a protracted move to City.

The Sun report that Tottenham and the Manchester club have reached a stalemate in negotiations for the England international.

It is said that City are pushing hard to sign the right-back, 27, but no deal is in place as the north Londoners continue to hold out for their £50million valuation to be met.

It has now emerged that one possible solution to the impasse is for Nigerian striker Iheanacho to move the other way in a remarkable player-plus-cash deal.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of the 20-year-old and is ready to join the likes of Leicester, Borussia Dortmund and Monaco in the race for his signature.

Leicester have matched City’s £20million price tag for Iheanacho but no agreement is in place due to what are reportedly contractual issues.

The arrival of Tottenham on the scene could change the picture, even though the rising star would have to play second fiddle to main man Harry Kane, just as he has done with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus at City.

Iheanacho has an impressive record at City since breaking into the first team two seasons ago but is seemingly surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola.

He has scored 21 goals in 64 matches for the Premier League club and has an excellent goals-per-minutes ratio but he managed just nine starts last season and is pushing for an exit.
