Aston Villa will step up their clear-out after signing Premier League veteran John Terry earlier in the week and five players remain up for grabs, according to the Mirror.

The news outlet has detailed in their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 10.13am) that the Midlands giants spent as much as £5million to bring in Terry on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Chelsea.

Now, it is said that they need to get clear of some of their senior players in an attempt o get their finances back in line with Financial Fair Play Rules after last summer’s big spending.

It is reported that the experienced Micah Richards, centre-back Tommy Elphick, youngster Aaron Tshibola, goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and France international Aly Cissokho are all up for grabs.

Meanwhile, the club are also reported to have offers from Saint-Etienne for Jordan Veretout, Sevilla for Jordan Amavi and Deportivo for La Coruna.

Shockingly, three of the five names said to be up for grabs only made the switch to Villa Park last summer under former boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Both Tshibola and Gollini spent the second half of the last campaign in loan moves away from the club, while Steve Bruce took the captains armband off Elphick and handed it to fellow centre-back James Chester with each of the three failing to impress at the Midlands.
