West Ham are one of a number of clubs who are in pursuit of Hamburg SV midfielder Nicolai Muller this summer, according to Bild.

The German newspaper claim on their website that the Hammers are joined by Southampton as the English sides who have shown interest, among a host of German clubs.

The 29-year-old winger’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018 and as such potential suitors are hoping to snap up a bargain deal for the two-time German international.

Bild claim that Hamburg would be looking to secure a deal of around £8.7million (€10million), as they risk losing the midfielder on a free next summer.

A natural right-sided winger, he made 27 appearances across all competitions for the north German side last season, scoring five goals and chipping in with seven assists.

He joined Hamburg in the summer of 2014 from fellow Bundesliga side Mainz, and has gone on to hit home 15 goals and contribute 16 assists in his 81 appearances.

His international debut came in May 2013 as a last minute substitute in a friendly against Ecuador, while his second appearance saw him play out the final 10 minutes in a 4-3 defeat to the USA just four days later.

West Ham currently have Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli, Michail Antonio and Robert Snodgrass who Muller would have to fight with for a place in the starting XI.
