Newcastle are going to follow the signing of French defender Florian Lejeune by finalising new contract deals for Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett this week, according to the Mirror.

The report details that the Magpies will offer new five-year deals to the defensive duo as the club looks to secure their future after their roles in last season’s Championship title winning campaign.

Dummett, 25, broke through the club’s academy with his debut coming in a 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in 2013.

The two-time capped Wales international has since gone on to play 121 times for the club and last season he played in 45 of their 46 Championship matches.

Meanwhile, Lascelles completed a move to Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in 2014 alongside Karl Darlow.

The 23-year-old didn’t properly break into the first team until the club’s relegation, but he was made captain by Rafa Benitez last summer and he helped lead the team to the second tier title having played in 43 of their league matches.

Dummett is currently in the final year of his contract at the north east giants, while Lascelles still has three years remaining.

Meanwhile, on the transfer front Benitez is expected to want to strengthen his side further having so far only managed to capture Christian Atsu and Lejeune following the club’s promotion.
