Young goalkeeper Luke McGee is undergoing a medical at League One side Portsmouth ahead of a transfer away from Tottenham, according to HITC Sport.

The news outlet details that the 21-year-old is poised to complete a move to the south coast in a permanent deal and is now going through fitness tests.

The update follows a claim from Sun correspondent Alan Nixon on Monday afternoon stating that Pompey had won the race for the youngster.

The 2008 FA Cup winners are currently led by the experienced Kenny Jackett, who was also recently working with the Tottenham youth team and it is said that this is how he knows about the qualities of McGee.

The stopper also impressed in League One last season and after moving to Peterborough last summer in a season-long loan deal he was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year after making 45 appearances which saw him keep 10 clean sheets while conceding on 62 occasions.

The Posh were also keen on re-signing him, but they have since brought in Jonathan Bond on loan from Reading, leaving Portsmouth with McGee.

Tottenham, meanwhile are well covered in the goalkeeping position with both Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm meaning this move should suit all parties.
