Tottenham have emphatically turned down a bid worth just under £25million from Manchester United already this summer for the versatile Eric Dier, according to the Independent.

The news outlet details that the Old Trafford giants believe the 23-year-old has his heart set on a move to Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, Tottenham also value him highly and it is said that it will likely take double the £25million bid to even persuade the north London club into letting a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team leave.

It is further claimed that United won’t be put off by Spurs’ valuation and that they will go back with a further offer despite chief executive Daniel Levy having no interest in selling.

Mourinho is detailed to have wanted either one of Dier or Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic to add to his United team this summer.

But, the Red Devils’ hijacking of striker Romelu Lukaku is now believed to have left a sour taste between the two Premier League title chasers, leaving Mourinho with the England international.

Dier himself has been a consistent part of Pochettino’s progressive Tottenham side since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014, playing 135 times in total for the club and also still has four years remaining on his contract.
