Chelsea defender Kyle Jameson has moved up to Glasgow for a trial at Celtic ahead of a possible loan move, according to STV.

The report details that the 19-year-old arrived in Glasgow on Sunday evening and will now spend the “next couple of weeks” with the Hoops during their pre-season preparations as he aims to impress Brendan Rodgers.

The teenage centre-back only joined Chelsea in January from non-league outfit Southport after being released from Everton at the age of 13.

He still has another year remaining on his contract at the Premier League champions and he could spend it in the Celtic team, with manager Brendan Rodgers looking to bring up and coming talents to last season’s treble winners this summer.

The Northern Irish boss has already brought in young star Kundai Benyu from Ipswich alongside the more experienced Jonny Hayes, while Manchester City’s young midfielder Olivier Ntcham is also reported to be closing in on a switch.

If Jameson impresses Rodgers during his trial then he will contest with each of Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko, Kolo Toure and Dedryck Boyata for the centre-back position in Rodgers’ side.

Meanwhile, the Hoops squad are preparing for a Champions League qualifying first leg clash against Linfield this coming Friday.
