Rangers are closing in on their ninth signing of the summer window with Norwich midfielder due to jet in on Wednesday evening ahead of a medical on Thursday morning, according to Sky Sports.

The popular broadcasters have detailed on their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 10.03am) that the 30-year-old is nearing a return to Glasgow ahead of agreeing a thee-year deal with the Ibrox giants.

The medical update follows on from a report by the Daily Mail claiming earlier in the week that the Gers had, had a £1.5million deal accepted by Norwich for the 11-time capped Scotland international.

Rangers have been linked with the experienced Glasgow-born midfielder throughout the summer with Pedro Caixinha keen to add players who also know the club in his first transfer window in charge.

He has so far brought in midfielder Ryan Jack from Aberdeen on a free transfer with the same mindset, while Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, Fabio Cardoso, Alfredo Morelos, Daniel Candeias, Bruno Alves and Dalcio have also joined.

One thing that is certain is that Dorrans won’t be playing in the Europa League for Rangers after their humiliating 2-1 aggregate defeat against Luxembourg-based club Progres Niederkorn, but he will be keen to help the club close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic in the Premiership.
