Samuel Saiz has signed for Leeds United from Spanish club Huesca, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Championship club revealed on their official website that the attacking midfielder had agreed the terms of a four-year contract that runs until 2021.

Leeds confirmed the signing of Saiz, 26, after revealing earlier in the week that his addition to the ranks of Thomas Christiansen’s squad was just awaiting the completion of a medical and paperwork.

Saiz has become the eighth signing of what has been a busy summer of transfer activity at Leeds and the second this week.

Leeds have already completed deals for versatile midfielder Vurnon Anita, striker Caleb Ekuban, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald, central midfield duo Mateusz Klich and Madger Gomes, and 2016-17 loanees Pontus Jansson Hadi Sacko, who have signed permanent deals.

Saiz is one of the most exciting signings yet after being pursued by the Yorkshire giants on the back of a brilliant 2016-17 campaign for Huesca in the notoriously challenging Segunda Division in Spain.

The Real Madrid academy product scored 12 goals and provided eight assists from 40 league encounters and was instrumental in the second-tier side qualifying for the play-offs.

But they missed out on promotion and Saiz signalled his desire to leave just a year after joining from Atletico Madrid.

It will be a notable capture for Leeds, even though Saiz did not play for the Atletico or Real first teams during his spells at the Spanish giants.

He has been chased by a number of top-tier clubs this summer and Eibar were close to sealing the deal last month but Leeds hijacked that potential transfer to convince the player to change his mind.
