Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer is hoping to follow up the signing of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek by beating Tottenham to Ajax defender Joel Veltman, according to the Mirror.

The news outlet have detailed on their website that the 25-year-old right-back is being eyed up by both London based clubs as he enters the final year of his contract.

Spurs may be keeping their eye on a right sided full-back this summer with star Kyle Walker linked heavily with a move to top-flight league rivals Manchester City.

However, it was De Boer, who gave Veltman his debut at Ajax before coaching him for another four years and the pairs relationship could give Crystal Palace the advantage in this deal.

The 17-time Holland international offers the versatility of being able to play in both the right-back and centre-back positions, while he has also shown leadership traits after captaining Ajax.

Last season he managed to play in 44 matches in all competitions for the club and starred in their fine Europa League campaign as they reached the final, where they were defeated 2-0 by Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have had a quiet window so far this summer with no players in coming, but they could be pushed to get Veltman over the line soon if they are interested alongside Palace.
